Single-wall Systems elements expand due to exhaust temperatures and according to its levels, they extend. Those expansions are pretty important especially for fireplaces. Therefore free contraction and extraction should not be blocked with mortars, when concrete panels pass through, thus preventing element distortions from the blocking of stresses discharge.

The consequences from possible distortions may be fatal for the system from the reduction of the cross-section of the elements, with effect its blocking as well as the separation of the elements in some cases. Therefore it is recommended to use lock clamps between the elements thus preventing element separation not only during cooling.

It is also important to use wall mounts for the safe installation of the system and also for the expansion stress discharge to the wall because of the temperature and the same weight. It is not recommended, the gap between them to exceed two meters (2m) since the elements used for the chimney installation are designed for operation under reduced pressure.

The elements of a single-wall system must be isolated if possible during installation. In other case, due to the lack of insulation exhaust cooling will be immediately caused with result high condensation. There, where the elements pass through wooden roofs it is necessary to separate metal from wood, by inserting a gab of at least 12cm around the element.

This safety gap, must by any means be insulated with high performance ceramic fiber, which is also nonflammable, so that it can prevent fire risk.

Diamantis Group Technical Department is at your disposal to offer tailor-made solutions for every single project.

Some of the insulation materials found in the market are not the proper ones for the elements insulation. The insulation materials that are recommended apart from ceramic fiber is stone wool. When installing single-wall system elements in fire-places or stoves it is very important to keep the right sizes of the profiles of the elements according to the installation.
In order to avoid exhaust gas recirculation or overpressure in the chimney, systematic or regular maintenance of the system is important for energy saving operation and long-term durability. In the base of every single system of chimneys it is also recommended the use of accessible parts for a proper cleaning and soot removal.

Those elements, apart from their convenience in maintenance and cleaning, they also allow the installation of an element under the outlet pipe, where all the incombustible minerals are concentrated, for the sake of the safe operation of the system. If the incision of some parts is necessary because of the installation, there might be used a cutter wheel and in no case a saw for metal. Therefore, it is highly recommended to pay attention to the part left of the element because the glowing metal dust may spoil the coating of the stainless steel.

There are places, where the atmosphere is extremely dangerous for the stainless steel. Such places are dry cleaner’s, hairdressers, tanneries or any place with high acid concentration. In such cases the materials must not be stainless in order to avoid or limit danger because of the surface corrosion of the elements. The stainless steel that we use at Diamantis Group is of antimagnetic quality AISI 316L, AISI 304L. In any case, when an element is in direct contact with other rusty metals, those might affect the upper coating of the element and it is recommended to be removed for the protection of the installation.
